I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Assist physician in performance of all cardiac procedures, demonstrating competency in allassigned positions, technical and clinical. Provide effective patient care to all ages and acuities. Assist with training and precepting new employees and students. Works with Coordinator, Charge Tech and physicians in formulating policy and procedure protocols. Participate in, maintain standards of, and help develop quality assurance and improvement programs. May act as liaison with Nursing Department. Cross-train to Cath Holding Area and rotates on as-need basis. Participation in call coverage required. Expected to obtain RCIS within two years of hire.

II. Employment Qualifications

1. Registered Nurse, Virginia licensure.

2. BCLS required.

3. ACLS and IABP certification required within six months of hire date.

4. Effective ECG and Hemodynamics recognition and interpretation required

5. Previous Cath Lab or Cath Holding experience (minimum one year) preferred; otherwise,

6. Minimum two years MICU, CICU or Emergency Department experience with Critical Care certification preferred.
